Born in 1959, Jorna is an Irruntyju painter who spends her time between her traditional homeland in the Warakurna and Irruntyju districts. Her uncle is the famous artist, Tommy Watson who worked with Jorna in developing her painting style. Tommy Watson’s influence can be seen in Jorna’s sweeping abstractions of My Country (Ngayuku Ngura) along with her use of vibrant colours.
