If you are wanting a valuation or appraisal - whether for insurance, as a gift, or for sale - we recommend our own Aboriginal art expert, Adrian Newstead, a valuer of Aboriginal and contemporary Australian art accredited by the Federal Department of the Arts, and a widely published arts commentator and author. Adrian acted as the Head of Aboriginal Art for Lawson~Menzies Auction House 2003-2006, and Managing Director of Menzies Art Brands 2007-2008. He also advises and acts for artists and collectors when buying and selling collectable Australian contemporary and Indigenous artworks at auction and through private sale. The valuation fee is scaled: for an artwork over $5000 the cost is $350; for an artwork under $5000, the cost is $280.

Born in 1959, Jorna is an Irruntyju painter who spends her time between her traditional homeland in the Warakurna and Irruntyju districts. Her uncle is the famous artist, Tommy Watson who worked with Jorna in developing her painting style. Tommy Watson’s influence can be seen in Jorna’s sweeping abstractions of My Country (Ngayuku Ngura) along with her use of vibrant colours.
