The Final Countdown – Deadline for Entries Tomorrow

Are we all feeling it? The deadline looming so, so close. Not to worry, we all have up to 5pm Friday 26 November (that’s tomorrow) to post your entries to the Victorian Indigenous Art Awards. As long as your package is post marked on that Friday, your entry will be accepted even if it turns up on Monday or Tuesday next week.

If you are having great trouble doing the above, you may email you images, biography, statements and application letter instead. Email to: viaa@fortyfivedownstairs.com

Applications are rolling in and I am reaffirmed of the amazing talent that our communities possess in Victoria. I am hearing wonderful traditional stories handed down from grandparents, uncles, aunties, parents and extended families. Such a wonderful, strong tradition that gives us knowledge helps us to understand ourselves and inspires creative expression. This expression ranges from stunning traditional styled works to highly contemporary and experimental pieces in two and three dimensional formats.

Let’s hope this tradition continues to strengthen and our youth absorb as much of the information as possible and understand how important this is to their progression through life. The more we know of where and from whom we have come, the stronger we are, and the better our arts practices.

Keep going with your entries, it will all be worthwhile.
