ART lovers are in for a treat this weekend with the art@stmatthews celebration and exhibition.

The Albury church will showcase the work of well-known regional and interstate artists as well as Aboriginal paintings, sculpture and pottery.

Regional artists Clare Leeuwin-Clark, Stephanie Jakovac, Mary-Jane Griggs, Gay Glover, Ken Raff, Craig Dent, Steve Anderson, Rick and Judy Pearce and Bronwyn Cossor will feature work in the exhibition aimed at raising money for rising damp and other church expenses.

Well known fashion designer and artist Prue Acton will open the exhibition on Friday night at a cocktail party.

Ms Acton’s partner, Mr Merv Moriarty, a former director of the Flying Art School in Queensland will judge the art exhibition.

The $1000 Ruth and Max Barry Art Prize named in honour of the couple’s commitment to the church for so many years will be awarded by Mr Moriarty.
