The NT News lets all Darwin locals know that they have one last chance to view the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards:
This weekend is the last chance Territorians have to see the finalists in the Telstra Award.
The best of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award has been on show since August but will close on Sunday at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory.
Entry is free.
The exhibition space has expanded this year with gallery room on the ground floor being made available for the nation’s premier Aboriginal art show.
It includes an installation by Sydney artist Suzie Evans that is modelled on a series of Nolan-style Ned Kelly cutouts painted with indigenous art styles, which the artist says remembers Aboriginal heroes often forgotten in folklore.
