12 Canoes is a 66 minute cinema presentation of twelve linked short subjects that together paint a visual and audio portrait of the people, history, culture and place of the Yolngu of north-central Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory.

The twelve works are the significant component of the 12canoes.com.au website which goes live on Monday 8 September.

Viewed in one complete run, what emerges is a powerful, impressionistic, yet comprehensive portrait of a people and place.
