Finalist in the 26th Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award, Mirdidingkingathi Juwarnda Sally Gabori has fast become one of Australia’s leading Indigenous artists. Interest in Sally’s work has not waned during the current financial climate, and she continues to excite audiences worldwide with her unique and exciting visual language. Her inclusion in the Korean International Art Fair 2009 will only see her rise to further international prominence.

Whilst renowned for her use of bright colours, Alcaston Gallery has chosen an evocative collection of monochromatic works by Sally Gabori, similar in aesthetics to this year’s Telstra entry, for our Annual Collector’s Exhibition. Powerful in their colour contrasts, closer inspection reveals the complexities and painterly quality of these works.
