Local artist Nyree Reynolds is again a finalist in the Parliament of NSW Aboriginal Art Prize.

Mrs Reynolds made the short list for her work From the shadows of the past to the light of the future which was inspired by a trip from Cowra to Blayney.

A storm was brewing in the northern sky. It was at sunset and the light that was hitting the hill at Burley Jacky just took my breath away, Mrs Reynolds said it was so inspiring and it was the birth of this painting.

Mrs Reynolds also made the list of finalists for the $20,000 acquisitive prize in 2007 and 2008.

The Parliament of NSW Aboriginal Art Prize is for Aboriginal artists born or living in NSW. This year is the fifth time the event has been held.

Fifty-two works by thirty-eight individual artists have been selected. The winner will be announced at the opening on 21 October 2009, and the winning work is acquisitive to the Parliament of NSW.
