Harold Furber from the Titjikala Art Centre has spoken out about the Federal Government’s intervention and its impact on Aboriginal art centres:
Harold Furber says all remote art centres across the territory have been affected by the shire changes.
Mr Furber says it is not clear how funding for the centre will be managed and who will manage it.
He says there are many issues yet to be clarified by the new shire managers.
“There’s an issue that needs to be discussed and clarified and that’s the role of the shire,” he said.
“At the art centre, it’s like a number of other organisations and community councils across the Northern Territory that have been affected by these introduction fo the shires.
“There are some issues that need to be clarified.”
Harold Furber also noted that 10 ATMS around Australia will be painted by Aboriginal artists.
