An excellent community newspaper, Pine Rivers Press, has a nice little article about a planned visit to the Namatijira to Now exhibition at the Queensland Art Gallery.
THE Friends Group of the Pine Rivers Regional Art Gallery in Strathpine is organising a group visit to the Namatjira to Now exhibition on November 16.
The exhibition is running at the Queensland Art Gallery at South Brisbane.
David MacLaughlin from the Friends Group said they would have a guided tour of the exhibition of Aboriginal art, from the era of Albert Namatjira to the present day.
“It’s an excellent opportunity to see some wonderful paintings, as well as the rest of the gallery, plus GoMA (Gallery of Modern Art),” Mr MacLaughlin said.
Queensland Art Gallery spokeswoman Laura Wise said the Namatjira tradition lived on.
“The great Albert Namatjira’s adoption of the European medium of watercolour for his landscape paintings remains an inspiration to contemporary artists from Ntaria (Hermannsburg) and surrounding regions of central Australia,” Ms Wise said.
