The Kluge-Ruhe Collection will hold an opening reception for its new exhibitions this evening from 5:30 to 7:30.
The local gallery will feature two new exhibitions. All Time Favorites: Best Loved Works from the Kluge-Ruhe Collection will be on display along with Gelam Nguzu Kazi or Dugong My Son.
All Time Favorites will include paintings on bark and canvas, sculpture and objects representing styles and techniques used by Aboriginal artists from different regions of Australia. This exhibition will run through the rest of the year, but pieces will rotate periodically.
Gelam, an exhibition of limited edition linocut prints by artists from the Torres Strait Islands, will be on display through Oct. 12. Part of a U.S. tour, the exhibit includes prints by Dennis Nona, winner of the Telstra National Aboriginal Art Award in 2007 and 2008, as well as Billy Missi, David Bosun and Victor Motlop.
Kluge-Ruhe Collection is at 400 Worrell Drive.
