A new exhibition showcasing the unique connections that Tasmanian Aboriginal people have with the land and sea opens on August 21 at Queensland Museum South Bank.
Tayenebe: Tasmanian Aboriginal Women’s Fibre Work, on loan from the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, aims to provide insight into the significance of traditional fibre work practice.
Tayenebe, a south east Tasmanian Aboriginal word meaning exchange, is the culmination of a three year cultural reinvigoration process undertaken by over 35 Tasmanian Aboriginal girls and women from seven to 87 years old.
