Celebrated Indigenous photographer Wayne Quilliam will join with household names such as Nancy Petyarre, Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri, Sally Morgan, Charlie Tjapangati and many other highly sought after artists at Deutscher and Hackett Auction house for the annual ˜Gnokan danna murra kor-ki’ auction which means ˜Give me your hand friend and bridge the cultural gap’.

In appreciation and respect for the work the Koorie Heritage Trust in Melbourne does, Australia’s leading Indigenous artists from across Australia have donated work to assist the trust to continue its important services to both Indigenous and non-indigenous communities.
Wayne Quilliam having recently returned from a successful European exhibition tour said It is very important for both artists and art buyers to support this auction; the ˜Trust’ is a very valuable resource that promotes the dialogue between all Australian’s. Earlier this year I visited with the traditional people in Mexico and Bolivia and one of the Totonaca Elders held my hand and told me of how his people had spent many hundreds of years working with different tribes to achieve a sense of harmony, I hope in some small way my artwork will help this process amongst the many different tribes we have in Australia.
