Last Friday night more than 70 people were greeted with wine and nibblies and entertained by Aboriginal dancers at the opening of local aboriginal artist Johanna Parker’s solo Indigenous art exhibition. The exhibition represents her first days at univerity, drawings, photos of past artworks, paintings and present practices.
Johanna, a mother of six, was adopted and came to Lightning Ridge to meet her natural mother and then came to live here in 2000.
Johanna, a descendant of the Murriwarri tribe, creates artworks which reflect Murriwarri living past and present.
