In November 2008 Muru Mittigar Aboriginal Cultural Centre at Castlereagh New South Wales will acknowledge the 10th anniversary of its formation with a number of planned celebrations.
An indigenous art exhibition will be officially opened at the Centre at 6.00pm on Friday 14th November showcasing works by John Boney with artists Kaylene Slater, Chontelle Hayes, Ty Biles, Darren Horwood, Judy Harris, Londa Harris, and Yondee.

Everyone is invited to view the exhibition, entry is free, from Saturday November 15th to Friday November 28, 10.00am to 4.00pm (Monday “ Saturday).
And on Sunday 23rd November from 10.00am “ 3.00pm a free community open day highlighting a range of indigenous activities. The Muru Mittigar Café will be open to the public and serving a range of special menus to celebrate.
In recent years Muru Mittigar has established an enviable record in providing unique tourism experiences and has been recognized in 2005 and 2006 by the NSW Tourism Awards for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Tourism followed by the QANTAS Australian Tourism Award in 2006.
Muru Mittigar was created to promote increased understanding of Darug and wider Aboriginal culture, whilst providing benefits to Aboriginal families in Western Sydney through employment opportunities. With 36 full time staff members and numerous casuals, the majority of indigenous, employees are skilled in many areas reflected in the diverse business activities undertaken at the Centre.
Muru Mittigar’s experience in the planning and implementation of bushland management strategies and rural land management, combined with the positive aspects of employment and training opportunities for Aboriginal people, makes the company unique.
The Centre’s ongoing vision is to provide greater knowledge, appreciation and understanding of Aboriginal history and heritage and the unique ability to care for Darug country.
Muru Mittigar will continue to serve the community into the future through the provision of cultural, educational and natural heritage services and individual advocacy for Aboriginal families.
