An established Indigenous art enterprise south-east of Halls Creek, in northern Western Australia, has received its first instalment of funding towards an art centre worth more than $900,000.
The Kundat Djaru Aboriginal Corporation has received $88,000 in State Government funding towards the construction of the Yaruman Art and Culture Centre.
The project is set to provide an office and art storage space, more gallery and working room and accommodation for a full-time coordinator.
The State Government has committed a further $280,000 through Lotterywest.
Construction is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
