ABORIGINAL and Islander art is proudly on display in the Queensland Times gallery space of the Ipswich Art Gallery.

Arts, Community and Cultural Services Committee Chairperson, Councillor Charlie Pisasale said the NAIDOC Week 2008 Exhibition marked the National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee week by featuring the works of indigenous artists in the City of Ipswich Collection.

“Selected artists include Emily Kngwarreye, Judy Watson, Kathleen Petarreye, Gordon Bennett and Roesella Namok.

“There are paintings, sculptural pieces and the truly wonderful Hammerhead shark headdress by Ken Thaiday Snr,” Cr Pisasale said.

Entry is free to this exhibition and it is on display through until Sunday 19 October 2008.
