To celebrate 20 years of Alcaston Gallery, this survey show at the Depot Gallery @ Danks Street, Waterloo, Sydney, will feature work from some of our most collectable artists. Alcaston Gallery opened at 2 Collins Street, Melbourne in September 1989, and moved to our current location at 11 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy in September 2001.

It is with great pleasure we celebrate the last 20 years with a survey exhibition highlighting many of our artists that have contributed to our success.

Many of our artists are prominent in Australia now; some sadly have passed away, like the late great Ginger Riley, while others continue to ˜paint up big’ like Eubena Nampitjin, Sally Gabori and Gulumbu Yunupingu . Rising stars like Emily Evans, Lorna Brown Napanangka, and Pedro Wonaeamirri continue to quietly be collected by major institutions and collectors, both here and abroad. Barney Ellaga, a senior law man from South East Arnhem Land, creates colour power, and young gun Rupert Betheras already has a strong following of loyal admirers. Paintings by Peggy Napangardi Jones from Tennant Creek adorn many great homes and collections. People just love Peggy’s work, end of story! This exhibition also includes the first painting publicly exhibited from the Estate of Ginger Riley.
