The Aboriginal Art Museum of Utrecht (AAMU) closed in 2017.

Its collection started with artworks collected during the 1990’s, growing over the next sixteen years. The Museum also had on long-term loan a number of important Dutch collections which complemented its core collection; the collections of the Groninger Museum, the Universitymuseum Gerardus van der Leeuw of the Rijksunversiteit Groningen, the Nijmeegs Volkenkundig Museum of the Radboud University en the Wereldmuseum Rotterdam were on permanent loan.

After the closure, its collection was sold to (the Swiss) Fondation Opale, where AAMU’s former curator, Georges Petitjean, also went.
