Description

“Painted for an exhibition in Flinders Lane, Melbourne at the time when Tony Abbott was a potential candidate for contesting the Prime Ministership. I’ve depicted Tony as a Southern Redneck (from the US). The verse upon the sand being the fourth verse of Advance Australia Fair. Within the shadows of the trees to the left of the seated Abbott are boat peoples who’ve been strung up in the trees, in body bags appropriately toe tagged with respective flags of their countries of origin. Their small wooden dinghy also hangs from a tree whilst the oars protrude from the sand aptly mounted as a crucifix. The ‘Southern Cross’ (top right from the hat) appears as ‘K’s’ whilst faded K’s fall from the night sky at random places.”
