his is Rosemary“’s interpretation of “œBush Yam Flowers“, depicting the flowers that bloom on the pencil yam vines. An important part of the woman’s role in traditional Aboriginal culture is to collect bush food. The yams are collected by digging deep into the soil using sharp digging utensils. The Yams are exposed amongst the root system of the yam bush. The yam seeds lay dormant until the rains come, upon which the vines regenerate. The yams are cooked in the hot coals of a a fire and are sweet tasting.
