Indigenous art from across the state will be showcased at the Tandanya Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts Fair this weekend.

Work from more than 90 artists will be on sale, with about half of the artists at the event to talk about the inspiration behind their work.

Artist Chris Crebbin, of Norton Summit, will have 12 paintings, a mix of traditional and contemporary artwork, and 40 boomerangs on show at the event.

For me, personally, it’s really important I go to the art fair each year, he said.

Otherwise I can tend to stay at home and focus on my art.

It’s like a big family, each time I go and mix with the Tandanya people and anyone around the event.

The fair will also feature traditional and contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dance and music and craft workshops for children.

The Tandanya Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts Fair is being held in the Rymill Park extension, Grenfell St, on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. Details: tandanya.com.au.
