One of the most recognisable names in Aboriginal art, Gloria Petyarre was the first Aboriginal artist to win the prestigious Wynne Prize in 1999, going on to be a finalist another four times.

This substantial work, measuring 1.42×3.15m, was painted in 2006 – within the artist’s peak period – and features her iconic motif, the swirling, multilayered brushstrokes of the Kurrajong bush medicine leaves.

Sadly, Gloria Petyarre passed away in May 2021.

Provenance on this painting is excellent.
